The Australian Canyoning Association (ACA) is the peak body for recreational canyoning in Australia.
We strive to legitimise and foster the sport of canyoning and its community through representation, education and advocacy.
We aim to:
foster an open and inclusive community
promote canyoning best practise leading to safe and responsible canyoning
promote a respect for the environment, balancing use, safety and protection
be voice for the canyoning community
Our plan
There is so much we can do to grow canyoning in Australia. Here are just some of the things we’d like to work on:
Liaison - working with government agencies, emergency services, land holders, outdoor associations and clubs on issues impacting our sport and community
Education - sharing and developing resources and guidelines for contemporary best practise techniques and skills
Canyon development - promote and guide responsible and sustainable canyon development that balances use, safety and the environment
Canyon Care - assisting practically in caring for canyoning related environments (for example, working with relevant authorities, arranging working bees for the purpose of anchor maintenance, track maintenance and bushcare)
Canyon beta - promote sharing of up-to-date canyon beta/track notes
Events - running canyoning festivals, meet ups and skills workshops
The team
The ACA is run by a small but passionate team of volunteers.
We’re in a period of committee transition (AGMs are a thing) and are looking for some fresh new faces to join the team. So are you excited about canyoning are willing to contribute back to the community? There is lots to do and many hands make light work. You don’t have to be an expert or a canyoning superstar… there is space for anyone willing to get involved.

The committee is not fixed. We can add and remove roles to suit the needs of the team and the community. If you want to be involved but don’t see a role that fits you then chat to us. We can make space for anyone willing to roll up their sleeves and be part of a collaborative and supportive team of volunteers.
